Roleframe vs Teal
a branch per job beats a filtered view

Build custom templates section by section, then let the AI assistant read your resume against a specific job description, produce a gap analysis, and rewrite any section from it with your approval on every change. The editor and the watermark-free PDF cost nothing and need no signup.

Why people switch

The features that do the work.

Roleframe tailors the document itself, with the tracker, the contact tracker and the free capture extension around it, where Teal filters one stored list of bullets.

01Editor

You edit the page you send

Roleframe opens on the document itself: drag a block, place a page break, pick from 40 section layouts, and watch the page you will send change as you edit. Teal's builder is form fields and toggles rendered into Teal's own templates, and its guide asks for 15 to 20 bullet points per position before tailoring starts.

  • Block-level drag and drop with a live preview of the page that downloads.
  • 40 section layouts and custom sections with presets, on the free plan, where Teal holds Advanced Designer settings for Teal+.
  • Every template is free here; Teal's pricing page puts 10 of its library on the free plan.

02Branches

One master resume, a version per job

Roleframe copies the document. A branch carries its own edit history, so one application can reorder Experience, rewrite a bullet to name the stack in the posting, and move a page break, while the master stays clean. Teal's help center is direct about the other model: you are not editing your main resume, you are creating a view of it.

  • Editing a branch never touches the master or the applications you already sent, and the branch you sent stays attached to that role in the tracker.
  • Master improvements flow into the branches, which Teal does too through Resume Syncing, so that part is a tie.
  • A workspace per career direction, where Teal keeps both directions in one merged history.

03ATS scoring

Scored section by section

Roleframe names the section losing points, what is thin about the wording there, and which numbers are missing, before you send it. Teal returns a Resume Score it recommends keeping at 60% or above, plus rule-based issue cards; clearing the time-based metric card takes two bullets in the format it provides.

  • Per-section scoring covers keyword alignment, structure, bullet clarity, formatting parse risk and date consistency.
  • Importing a resume runs the analysis on its own, so the first read costs nothing to ask for.
  • Teal's advanced Resume Analyzer cards sit on Teal+, with the basic cards on the free plan.

04Tailoring

Read the posting, then name the gaps

Roleframe reads the posting and returns the terms that listing wants and your resume never uses, ranked by what to fix first, then helps you write them in. Teal color-codes keywords green and red and can generate a bullet for a missing one, with the top 5 surfaced free and the full list on Teal+.

  • Nothing is capped by keyword count here: a tailoring run returns the whole read, and it is the number of runs a free account is limited to.
  • The assistant holds the resume outline, that report and the posting you pasted, so it rewrites a section or a single bullet against the job, and nothing lands until you approve that edit.
  • The report ends in interview prep built from your own experience and that posting, rather than a generic question list.

The assistant

An AI assistant that has read your resume, and still asks before it changes a word.

It opens with your resume analysis and the job report already loaded: the score, the job-fit summary, the keywords the posting asks for that you are missing, and the strategy written for that job. So it does not ask what is wrong. It already knows, and it fixes it one approved change at a time.

  • It opens the section itself
No pasting your resume into a chat box. It works on the document you are about to send.
  • It knows what your analysis found
Your ATS score and the job-fit summary come with it, so it starts from the same report you are looking at.
  • It knows the gaps by name
The keywords the posting asks for and your resume is missing, so a rewrite closes a specific one instead of guessing.
  • It reads the job, not a summary
The posting itself, plus the analysis of that job and the tailoring strategy written for it.
  • Every edit is a diff
Word by word, what goes and what arrives, before anything touches the page.
  • Approval is enforced
Applying is gated in the tool itself, not by convention. Discard costs nothing.

05Privacy

Your document, under EU rules

Roleframe runs from Poland under the GDPR, your resume content is not used to train general-purpose AI models, and the edit model is yours: AI runs only when you ask it to, and nothing it drafts lands until you approve it, one change at a time. Teal's terms say the same about training, so that part is parity.

  • AI features fire on explicit actions, never quietly in the background.
  • Every proposed change is accepted or rejected by you, one edit at a time.
  • Data export and deletion are yours to run under the GDPR, and Roleframe does not sell user data.
06Export

Free at the download button

Roleframe's PDF comes out of an editor that never asked who you are: unlimited, watermark-free, real selectable text, and a render of the same document you laid out. Teal's free plan exports unlimited resumes too, so what parts these two at the download button is the account in front of it.

  • The PDF is a render of the same document, so what you laid out is what downloads.
  • No watermark and no Roleframe branding, on any plan.
  • A private link shares the document for comments, where Teal's documented path for feedback is exporting the file and sending it on.
The tracker

Every application, and the resume that went with it.

Saved, applied, interviewing, offer. The board comes with a free account, and so does the contact list and the extension that fills it.

The Roleframe job tracker: a pipeline bar with per-stage counts above rows grouped by status, showing the Job Position, Company, Max. Salary, Location, Status, Date Saved, Deadline, Date Applied, Follow up and Excitement columns
  • The version you actually sent, attached

Each role holds the tailored branch that went to it, so a callback three weeks later does not start with guessing which resume they read.

  • The people, beside the jobs

A contact tracker rather than a notes field: a recruiter links to every role you have with them, carries your own tags, and edits in place.

  • One click from the posting

The free Chrome extension files the job you are reading straight into the board, with the full description and the recruiter contacts kept alongside it.

The honest verdict

Which one is right for you.

Roleframe changes the document between two applications and hands back a report you can act on, which is the pick wherever the resume is the part you keep rewriting; Teal takes it where the pipeline is.

RRoleframeBest overall

Choose Roleframe if

  • You want to build a real resume and download the watermark-free PDF with real selectable text right now, with no account, no card and every template and design control included.
  • The tailored version should differ in more than which bullets are switched on: a branch is a real copy of the document, with its own order, emphasis and page breaks.
  • You want the analysis to name the section losing points, then an assistant that has read that report and the posting to help you write the fix, one approved edit at a time.
  • You keep two career directions alive at once and want each to have its own master resume, its own branches and the tracker and contacts around them.
TTealBest for the pipeline

Choose Teal if

  • Choose Teal if the search itself is the bottleneck rather than the document: its tracker is the older and deeper one, with checklists on every application, follow-up reminders and a company tracker beside the contacts.
  • Choose Teal if finding a role and tailoring to it in one tab matters more than how the document is built. It runs its own job board.
  • Choose Teal if you have never written a resume bullet and want a prewritten phrase to start from.

Where it stops

  • The tailored resume is a selection from one stored pool, and the layout stays inside the Teal template you picked: Teal's FAQ says the builder uses only its own templates and has no dedicated References section.
  • The pool has to exist before any tailoring starts. Teal's guide asks for 15 to 20 bullet points per position, every skill and certification, and two or three summary variations first.
  • Free accounts sit on 10 templates, Basic Designer settings, the top 5 surfaced keywords and a one-time pot of AI credits Teal calls non-renewable, per its pricing page and help center.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Roleframe actually free, or free until I hit download?

Yes, free right at the download. The resume editor opens with no account, no card and no trial, every template and every design control included, and the PDF downloads are unlimited, watermark-free and real selectable text. A free account saves your work across devices and adds the job tracker, the contact tracker, the Chrome extension, one master resume, one tailored branch, one cover letter and a few full AI runs. Browsing the cover letter templates needs no account, though writing a cover letter takes that free account. The paid plan buys everyday AI with no credit meter, priced on /pricing.

What does Teal cost in practice?

As of, Teal+ is $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days on tealhq.com/pricing. The terms list an annual period with no published price, and there is no card-required trial. Price a real search rather than the per-day framing: thirteen weeks on the weekly plan is thirteen charges of $13, which is $169, against $79 for the same 90 days on quarterly.

Can I move my Teal resume into Roleframe?

Export the PDF from Teal, which its free plan allows, then import that file into Roleframe and it comes back as editable blocks with roles, dates and bullets in the right places. The import runs the resume analysis on its own, so you get an ATS read on the way in. On the free plan an import fills your one resume slot.

Will a Roleframe resume pass an ATS?

Yes. An applicant tracking system (ATS) reads the file, and that file is the document you built: the PDF renders the same document, not a second approximate layout. It exports as real selectable text, not a picture of a page. Every template keeps standard headings and a clean reading order, and all are on the free plan. Roleframe scores each section for parse risk, structure and keyword alignment against the posting you paste, so problems are fixed before you send; Teal's advanced analyzer cards sit on Teal+.

Is Teal ever the better choice?

Sometimes. Roleframe tracks the search too, on the free plan: saved, applied, interviewing and offer, with the exact version you sent attached to each role, a contact tracker where a person links to every role you have with them, and a free Chrome extension that files the posting you are reading in one click. Teal's tracker is the older and deeper one, and it runs a job board, so if the pipeline rather than the document is your bottleneck.

Do I lose anything by starting free?

Nothing about the document. Every template, every design control, page breaks, 40 section layouts and the watermark-free PDF sit on the free path, and none of it is a trial that converts. What free limits is volume and AI: one master resume, one tailored branch, one cover letter, five fit checks and a few full runs. The job tracker, the contact tracker and the Chrome extension are not rationed by plan at all. Premium is unlimited everyday AI and there is no credit system anywhere in the product, so nothing you built is held back at the download.
