Roleframe vs Novoresume
full layout control, free at the download

Roleframe hands you section order, fonts, spacing and page breaks on the free plan, in an editor that opens with no account and exports a watermark-free PDF at any length. One master branches into a tailored version per job, Remi rewrites any section against the posting as a word-by-word diff you approve, and a tracker, contacts and a one-click capture extension sit beside it, free. Novoresume puts that layout control behind Premium, €19.99 a month before VAT as of 2 September 2026; pick it for a section set decided for you.

Why people switch

The features that do the work.

Roleframe hands you the document, the layout and the export on the free plan, with Remi beside the page, where a guided builder splits each of them into a free half and a paid one.

01Editor

The layout is yours from minute one

Roleframe opens on a block editor where section order, spacing, fonts and page breaks are free on every plan, including the path with no account. Novoresume's Layout tool asks which of five experience levels describes you and lays out a default section set; deciding which sections appear and where they sit is Custom Layout, which is Premium.

  • 40 section layouts across the section types, so one Experience block can be arranged several ways.
  • Custom sections with use-case presets, and page breaks you place where you want them.
  • Every template and every design control on the free plan, including the path with no account.

02Branches

One master, a version per job

Roleframe's document is event-sourced, so a branch stays tied to its master: rewrite a bullet on the master in week three and the branches you already made inherit it. Novoresume's documented tailoring path is Duplicate, and its help center documents no link between a duplicate and its source.

  • Editing a branch leaves the master and every sibling untouched, so nothing you already sent moves under you.
  • A workspace per role or career direction, each with its own master resume and its own branches.
  • The tracker holds the exact branch you sent to each company, beside the recruiter you sent it to, on a free account.

03Scoring

Scored by section, with the reason

Roleframe reports each section on its own, naming the weak wording and the figures missing behind every deduction, so what comes back is a list of edits rather than a grade. Novoresume's ATS checker returns a score out of 100 across five areas, from job match to technical elements.

  • Deterministic checks run beside the AI review: headings, dates, titles and layout parse risk.
  • The summary, the skills block and a single bullet each get their own verdict.
  • Importing a resume runs the analysis without being asked, and every finding it raises carries a Fix with AI button that hands it to Remi.

04Keywords

Remi tailors the document you are about to send

Remi, the assistant in Roleframe's editor sidebar, works inside the document you are about to send. It reads any section of your resume by name, the tailoring report and the posting itself, then rewrites a section or a single bullet as a word-by-word diff, and nothing lands until you approve it. Novoresume's Resume Rewriter reads an uploaded file against a posting, returns the rewritten version as formatted text, and tells you to paste it into a template in its builder.

  • Keyword coverage arrives with the specific gaps named and a ranked plan, and Remi closes a named gap with wording drawn from your real experience, never invented.
  • Fix with AI sits on every finding in the report. Apply it and that finding is marked resolved, and the live score moves by exactly what it cost.
  • Remi runs a practice interview written from the resume as it stands, one question at a time, feedback on each answer, a score at the end, beside the interview prep the report already builds from the posting you pasted.

Meet Remi, your career copilot

An AI assistant that has read your resume and your report, and still asks before it changes a word.

Remi lives in the editor sidebar with your analysis already loaded: the score, every open finding, the keywords the posting asks for that you are missing, and the job itself. Ask what to fix first and it answers like a recruiter who switched sides, plainly, with a number instead of an adjective, and ends with the one thing worth doing next. Then it does it, one approved change at a time.

  • It reads the resume itself
No pasting into a chat box. Remi opens any section of the document you are about to send, by name.
  • It starts from your report
The score, every open finding and the reason behind each point come with it, so it knows what to fix first.
  • It knows the gaps by name
The keywords the posting asks for that your resume never uses, so a rewrite closes a specific one instead of guessing.
  • Fix with AI on every finding
One button hands a finding to Remi. Apply the fix and it is marked resolved, and your score moves by exactly what it cost.
  • Every edit is a diff you approve
Word by word, what goes and what arrives, before anything touches the page. Approval is enforced in the tool, not by convention.
  • Practice interviews on demand
Questions written from your resume as it stands today, one at a time, with feedback on each answer and a score at the end.

05Privacy

Your history, and your approval on every edit

Roleframe runs in the EU under the General Data Protection Regulation, does not sell user data, and never uses your resume content to train general-purpose AI models. Novoresume is a Danish company under the same law, so the difference is the edit model: its rewriter returns a finished draft to paste, while every change Remi proposes waits for your approval.

  • Every change Remi proposes is a word-by-word diff you accept or discard, one at a time, and discarding costs nothing.
  • AI features fire on an explicit action, never quietly in the background.
  • You can export and delete your data, and requests go to an EU company.
06Export

Free at the download button

Nothing in the Roleframe editor turns the export off: run to three pages, use anything on the canvas, and the PDF still comes out watermark-free with real selectable text. Novoresume's help center says the Download button carries a star and does not work while any Premium feature is in use, and writing past one page is one of those features.

  • The editor opens at roleframe.ai/resume-builder with no account and no card.
  • Novoresume states its free PDF is full formatted and carries no watermark, and on the file itself that is a genuine tie.
  • The PDF is a true render of the document you laid out, so the file matches the editor rather than approximating it.
The tracker

Every application, and the resume that went with it.

Saved, applied, interviewing, offer. The board comes with a free account, and so does the contact list and the extension that fills it.

The Roleframe job tracker: a pipeline bar with per-stage counts above rows grouped by status, showing the Job Position, Company, Max. Salary, Location, Status, Date Saved, Deadline, Date Applied, Follow up and Excitement columns
  • The version you actually sent, attached

Each role holds the tailored branch that went to it, so a callback three weeks later does not start with guessing which resume they read.

  • The people, beside the jobs

A contact tracker rather than a notes field: a recruiter links to every role you have with them, carries your own tags, and edits in place.

  • One click from the posting

The free Chrome extension files the job you are reading straight into the board, with the full description and the recruiter contacts kept alongside it.

The honest verdict

Which one is right for you.

Roleframe gives you the shape of the resume along with the file, free, and puts Remi beside the page to tailor it, where Novoresume decides the shape for you and charges to change it.

RRoleframeBest overall

Choose Roleframe if

  • The download never switches off: any length, no watermark, real selectable text, and the section order, the fonts, the spacing and the page breaks yours before you pay for anything.
  • You are applying to enough roles that a duplicate per posting has stopped keeping up with your own edits, and you want the tracker, the contacts and the one-click capture extension on the same free account.
  • You want Remi, which has read your resume, the tailoring report and the posting, to rewrite the weak section as a word-by-word diff you approve. Fix with AI sits on every finding, the score moves as each one lands, and a practice interview is written from the resume as it stands.
  • You want the ATS read to name the sentence losing points rather than score you across five areas.
NNovoresumeBest for first resumes

Choose Novoresume if

  • Choose Novoresume if you have never written a resume and want the sections chosen for you: five experience levels produce a default section set with the mandatory ones marked.
  • Choose Novoresume if one page is your target anyway, where its free tier is a finished product: it states a full formatted PDF with no card and no watermark.
  • Choose Novoresume if you want a purchase with a hard end date: a month, a quarter or a year, no card stored, nothing to cancel.

Where it stops

  • Choosing your own section order, and one column or two, is Custom Layout, which is Premium.
  • Basic is one document on a maximum of one page with 8 of 16 templates and 3 of 12 fonts, and the help center says the Download button stops working while any Premium feature is in use.
  • The Resume Rewriter hands back formatted text and tells you to paste it into a template in its builder, and the AI tools share a credit meter that applies to Premium accounts as well as free ones.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Roleframe actually free, or free until I hit download?

Yes, free right at the download. The resume editor opens with no account, every template and every design control included, and the PDF that comes out has real selectable text and no watermark at any length. There is no trial and no card. A free account saves your work and adds the job tracker, the contact tracker, the Chrome extension that saves a posting in one click, one tailored branch, one cover letter and a few full runs of Remi. Everyday AI without limits is Premium, priced on /pricing.

What does Novoresume cost in practice?

As of 2 September 2026, the EU pricing page shows Premium at €19.99 a month, €39.99 a quarter and €139.99 a year, with VAT added at checkout. The US figures are $21.99, $39.99 and $139.99, the monthly corroborated live and the other two taken from a 12 August 2026 archive capture. None of them renew: the period ends, the account drops back to Basic, and no card is kept. Prices move, so check the page on the day.

Can I move my Novoresume resume into Roleframe?

Yes, once you can download it. Roleframe imports a resume PDF and returns it as editable blocks, with roles, dates and bullets in the right places, then runs the analysis on it automatically, with Fix with AI on each finding it raises. Novoresume's pricing FAQ says documents are saved as PDFs, and on Basic the download stops working while a Premium feature is in use, so export before you add one. A free Roleframe account includes one import.

Will a Roleframe resume pass an ATS?

Yes. An applicant tracking system (ATS) reads the file, and the file is the document you built: the PDF renders that document rather than a second, approximate layout. It exports as real selectable text, not a picture. Every template keeps standard headings and a clean reading order, and every template is on the free plan. Roleframe scores each section for parse risk, structure, headings and keyword alignment against the posting you paste, so problems are fixed before you send, and Remi fixes any finding as a diff you approve.

What does Remi do inside Roleframe's editor?

Remi is the assistant in the editor sidebar, working on the document you have open. It reads any section by name, the report behind each score, and the linked posting, then rewrites a section or a single bullet as a word-by-word diff that lands only when you approve it. Fix with AI hands any finding to Remi; apply it and the finding is marked resolved and the live score moves by what it cost. It runs a practice interview from the resume as it stands, one question at a time.

Is Novoresume ever the better choice?

Yes, for one reader. If you have never written a resume, being handed a default section set for your experience level beats a canvas, and Roleframe writes from the history you already have. If one page is your target, their free tier is a finished product, and their fixed periods expire where Roleframe's short intervals renew until you cancel. Past that first draft, Roleframe is the default: the layout is yours free, nothing switches the download off, and Remi rewrites against the posting as a diff you approve.

Do I lose anything by starting free?

Not on the document. Every template, full design control, section order, page breaks and unlimited watermark-free PDF downloads at any length are identical on the free tier and the paid one, and the job tracker, the contact tracker and the Chrome extension come with a free account. What free caps is volume: one master resume, one tailored branch, one cover letter and a few full AI runs, Remi included, enough to judge the output. Everyday AI without limits sits on Premium, and there is no credit meter anywhere.
